If your flight is canceled, the airline must give you a choice between:

  1. An alternative flight to your destination under similar conditions (usually free rebooking as soon as possible).

  2. A full refund of your ticket.

💶 Am I entitled to compensation?

Sometimes, yes. Your right to compensation depends on the timing and cause.

You are often entitled to compensation:

  • If you were informed of the cancellation less than 14 days before departure,
  • and no suitable alternative flight was offered.

But be aware that there are exceptions. You will not receive compensation if the cancellation was due to extraordinary circumstances beyond the airline's control, such as a snowstorm, security issues, or a strike at the airport.

The compensation amounts are approximately:

  • €250 for short flights
  • €400 for medium-haul flights
  • €600 for long-haul flights

These amounts are based on EU261 regulations. Exact amounts depend on distance and delay in arrival time.
